Welcome! I am Tuwanda McNeill, principal at West Hoke Elementary School.

 

As I make this transition, I am aware of the anticipation and eagerness that accompanies new leadership in any organization.  I know that change provokes both excitement and anxiety.  As a reflective practitioner, my leadership philosophy is centered on understanding and responding to the needs of our students through my personal dedication to professional growth and development.  Therefore, I am eager to begin the new school year at WHES.

I am grateful and humble to have been selected to lead in our journey toward continued excellence.  Our focus as a staff is to fully implement Common Core with a focus on reading, as we are all reading teachers.  The journey at WHES will revolve around five principles that I consider essential for success: (1) Commitment to the Vision (2) Dedication (3) Collaboration (4) Growth for all stakeholders (5) Teamwork (Building Relationships).  I know that with our investment in each other, and our belief in our students success, West Hoke Elementary Schools students will continue to thrive and achieve academic excellence.

 

I am thankful to the County Commissioners, Board of Education, Dr. Williamson, and the West Hoke School community for the opportunity to serve such a wonderful community and for the renovations to the school.  The changes are amazing and I am so excited for the students, staff and entire West Hoke community. 

 

I look forward to an amazing 2012-2013 school year.
